FAN-FAVORITE MOMENT: Daniel O’Donnell Stuns (and Delights) Fans with His Acting Debut in Halloween Short Film “Night of the Daniels”
Move over, Hollywood — Daniel O’Donnell has officially entered his thriller era. The beloved Donegal singer, known for his warmth, wit, and legendary charm, has made his unexpected acting debut in a Halloween-themed short film that’s quickly become the talk of Ireland — and beyond.
The 10-minute horror-comedy, titled “Night of the Daniels,” sees the 60-year-old country crooner taking on a role that fans never saw coming: an action hero. When his hometown of Dungloe is suddenly overrun by terrifying wax figure clones of himself, Daniel must rise to the occasion — armed with nothing more than a fire poker, sharp instincts, and his trademark good humor.
The film, produced by the creative team at Re-Act Productions — the same masterminds behind Daniel’s viral “Down at the Lah De Dah” video — premiered online to an avalanche of excitement. Within hours, social media was flooded with reactions, praise, and plenty of laughter. Fans quickly dubbed the short film “Ireland’s answer to Thriller” and hailed Daniel as a “national treasure” all over again.
One delighted viewer wrote, “The new Daniel O’Donnell video has everything — swords, beheadings, a flamethrower, and a giant naked wax Daniel. Everything!” Another fan joked, “Daniel O’Donnell having his own ‘Thriller’ video is the best thing to happen to Ireland since sliced bread.”
Even longtime followers couldn’t get enough, with one admitting, “I’m watching for the third time. I love this. Daniel, you’re a nut — thanks for making us laugh!”
The tongue-in-cheek short features Majella O’Donnell alongside her husband, playing a key role in the fun. Daniel revealed that she thoroughly enjoyed the project, saying, “Ah, she loved it. She loves the young fellas who run the company — they’re brilliant. It was all their idea, and they brought the whole thing to life. Everything was done locally — within three miles of where I live.”
For all its comic chaos — including action sequences, daring stunts, and one very brave Donegal man hopping over furniture to fight his own wax doppelgängers — Daniel insists he had plenty of help. “They just told me where to stand, what to do, and when to break down the door,” he laughed. “It’s all down to them — I just followed directions!”
Some fans were so impressed with Daniel’s performance that they began campaigning for him to take the role of James Bond. One post read, “Daniel for the next 007!” prompting Daniel to laugh off the idea. “Ah, they’d be making a younger Bond than me now,” he joked. “I’ve got the black suit — that’s about as far as I can go.”
With his new album “I Wish You Well” set for release next month and a busy international tour across Canada, the U.S., and Ireland, Daniel shows no signs of slowing down — even after conquering the world of music, television, and now, film.
Whether fighting wax clones or melting hearts on stage, one thing is certain: Daniel O’Donnell has once again proven why fans call him “a legend.” He can sing, act, make people laugh — and somehow, even in a Halloween horror spoof, he still manages to make the whole country smile.
