Daniel O’Donnell Beams with Pride as He Welcomes Third Grandchild, Baby Luke, into the Family
Daniel O’Donnell, the beloved Irish country music star, is ending the year with a heart full of joy after becoming a grandfather for the third time. The 60-year-old singer, who celebrated his milestone birthday just last month, marked this Christmas as an especially memorable one — it was the very first time Santa Claus paid a visit to baby Luke, the newest member of the family.
Luke was born in October, joining his older siblings Olivia, 6, and Archie, 3, who are the children of Daniel’s wife Majella’s daughter, Siobhan, and her husband, Gavin. The proud granddad couldn’t resist sharing his happiness with fans, posting a heartwarming Christmas morning family photo alongside all three grandchildren. “A very excited house this morning. Happy Christmas everyone,” Daniel wrote, capturing the festive magic of the day.
The news of Luke’s arrival was first announced on October 20, when Daniel posted a sweet snapshot of the newborn nestled beside his big brother and sister. “We are delighted to announce the arrival of our 3rd grandchild Luke. Seen here with his big sister and brother Olivia and Archie,” the singer shared.
Daniel’s bond with his grandchildren is one he cherishes deeply. On The Late Late Show last month, Archie playfully revealed that he and Olivia call their famous grandfather “Gaga” — a name that has clearly stuck. In the same interview, Daniel recalled how the children helped celebrate his 60th birthday. “We will have a cake on Sunday and you’ll help me blow out the candles, won’t you?” he asked. Archie’s cheeky reply — “No!” — prompted laughter from the live audience.
Reflecting on his role as a grandfather, Daniel told host Ryan Tubridy, “I can’t begin to tell you the joy that these two have brought, and now we have Luke as well. Luke was born in October. They bring so much joy and I know Majella isn’t here, but I do think that she is watching, and I have to say, if I am without Majella, I wouldn’t have this joy.”
For a man whose career has spanned decades and brought him acclaim across Ireland and beyond, Daniel O’Donnell’s greatest rewards now seem to be found at home — in the laughter of children, the warmth of family traditions, and the simple pleasure of holding a grandchild close at Christmastime.
