Daniel O’Donnell to Take Extended Touring Break for Health Reasons — Confirms Select Performances Will Continue

Daniel O’Donnell has announced that he will take an extended break from touring at the end of 2025 to focus on his health, though he has reassured fans that this is not a retirement. The Donegal singer revealed he has been battling persistent allergies and recurrent chest infections during his touring schedule, which have taken a toll in recent years.

Speaking openly, he explained that after completing his current commitments through December 2025, he will step back to rest and recuperate. “I’m not retiring,” Daniel said, emphasising that the decision is about recharging and recovering rather than ending his career.

While he will pause his regular tours, Daniel confirmed that he will still take part in a few special events. These include the annual Opry le Daniel show on TG4 in early 2026 and a performance aboard Gertrude Byrne’s Mediterranean Cruise in September 2026. These are the only confirmed appearances for that year.

The time away from the road will allow him to spend more time with his family. Daniel and his wife Majella welcomed their fourth grandchild, Jack, in April 2025, born in Australia. Although they have not yet met him in person, the couple is cherishing this new addition to their family.

Daniel also reflected on how much he values the time he and Majella have together, particularly after challenging times such as her cancer recovery in 2014. He noted that even while slowing down his schedule, traditions like their annual calendar will continue, remaining an important part of their connection with fans.
