DANIEL O’DONNELL AND WIFE MAJELLA CAUGHT SPEEDING TWICE DURING THEIR IRISH B&B TOUR — AND HE’S LAUGHING IT OFF WITH HIS USUAL CHARM
Even the most wholesome of celebrities can have their moments — as Daniel O’Donnell recently revealed with a laugh, admitting that he and his wife Majella were caught speeding twice while filming their hit television series, Daniel and Majella’s B&B Road Trip.
The Donegal-born crooner, known for his spotless reputation and gentle humor, shared the story in his typically good-natured way, proving once again that even when life gets a little bumpy, he knows how to take it in stride.
“We got two speeding tickets,” Daniel confessed with a smile. “I think one of them was when we were driving in Carndonagh in Donegal, and I’m not sure where the other one was. I certainly wouldn’t be in favour of anyone speeding, and I have to say that. I think we were doing 70 in a 60 zone — it was just one of those things.”
Laughing at the incident, Daniel admitted he couldn’t even recall whether it was a speed van or a camera that caught them. “But we were caught for speeding twice,” he said with a grin. “And that’s the truth of it.”
The revelation came as Daniel reflected on the overwhelming success of his and Majella’s B&B Road Trip — a wholesome travel series that captured the hearts of viewers across Ireland and beyond. The show, which aired on UTV, followed the couple as they explored bed and breakfasts across the country, meeting everyday people, sharing stories, and spreading their trademark warmth and laughter.
The program became an instant hit, praised for its authenticity, humor, and the genuine affection between Daniel and Majella. Producers have since confirmed that the pair will return for another series next summer, much to the delight of their devoted fans.
Between filming and touring, Daniel has been keeping busy — but he’s also finding time to enjoy the quieter side of life. As the Christmas season approaches, the singer says he plans to spend the holidays at home in Donegal surrounded by family before setting sail on a well-earned four-month cruise in January with Majella.
The cruise will mark a welcome break for the couple, who have spent the past few years balancing Daniel’s international touring schedule, television appearances, and family time. “It’s lovely to be able to slow down a bit,” Daniel said. “We’ve both worked hard, and now we can enjoy the time together — that’s what life’s all about.”
Despite his relaxed approach to fame, Daniel remains as popular as ever — particularly following his appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, which introduced him to an even wider audience and showcased his good humor and charm. Yet, while many reality TV producers would love to have him back on their screens, Daniel was quick to shut down one particular rumor — that he might be heading into the Australian jungle for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
“If anybody hears of me going on that show, then I would tell them to shoot me,” he joked. “No, I would definitely rule that out. I just couldn’t do it. The thought of all those things — rats crawling around me in the dark — would not be for me. No, I just couldn’t do it.”
Fans were amused by his honesty, but not surprised — Daniel O’Donnell has always been open about his dislike of discomfort and chaos. For him, joy comes from music, people, and the simple pleasures of home — not jungle trials or celebrity stunts.
Through it all, Daniel’s enduring appeal lies in his genuine personality. Whether he’s performing on stage, sharing tea with a B&B host, or laughing about a speeding ticket, he remains grounded, polite, and entirely himself.
And perhaps that’s why his fans adore him — because Daniel O’Donnell doesn’t try to be perfect. He simply lives with grace, humor, and gratitude, even when life throws him the occasional speeding fine.
As one fan put it after hearing the story: “Only Daniel could get caught speeding twice and still sound like the nicest man in Ireland.”
