Grand Ole Opry Marks 100th Anniversary with Star-Studded NBC Special Hosted by Blake Shelton

NASHVILLE — The Grand Ole Opry’s “Rhinestone Milestone” centennial celebration continues to shine, and now fans worldwide will get to experience it live. NBC has announced a primetime broadcast, Opry 100: A Live Celebration, set to air Monday, September 15, with country superstar Blake Shelton as host.

The two-hour special, also streaming on Peacock, will bring the iconic Nashville stage into homes across America, honoring 100 years of music, history, and unforgettable performances. Organizers say the event will showcase the Opry’s role as the “heart of country music,” with tributes to its legendary past and live performances from today’s biggest stars.

“This isn’t just a concert — it’s a celebration of everything the Opry has meant to fans and artists for a century,” Shelton said in a statement. “To be part of this moment in history is an honor I’ll carry forever.”

The Grand Ole Opry first aired as a radio broadcast in 1925, quickly evolving into a cultural institution and launching pad for generations of country legends from Hank Williams and Patsy Cline to Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks, and Carrie Underwood.

NBC’s Opry 100: A Live Celebration will revisit some of the greatest moments in Opry history, blending archival footage with new performances. Special collaborations, emotional tributes, and surprise appearances are expected to mark what organizers are calling “the crown jewel of a year-long celebration.”

The Opry’s centennial has been marked throughout 2025 with a series of themed concerts, exhibits, and fan events in Nashville. The September broadcast promises to capture the spirit of those festivities for a global audience.

Fans can watch live on NBC at 8 p.m. ET/PT on September 15 or stream on Peacock.
