Daniel O’Donnell Announces Touring Hiatus to “Recharge Batteries” Amid Chest Health Concerns
After decades of near-constant performances, Daniel O’Donnell is finally pressing pause.
The beloved country music star has revealed he will take a break from touring in 2026, giving his voice and body time to recover following recurring chest issues that have shadowed him in recent years. The decision, he says, is less about alarm—and more about self-preservation.
“I’m just taking time to recharge my batteries,” said the 63-year-old singer, who has been performing nonstop across Ireland, the UK, and the U.S.
Speaking to the Sunday World, Daniel shared that while the chest condition he’s been managing isn’t serious in itself, it has affected him more acutely due to the demands of his profession. “Loads of people have what I have, and it doesn’t bother them one bit. I function absolutely perfectly with it—otherwise, I’m in perfect health,” he explained. “But when you’re singing every night, that changes things.”
O’Donnell emphasized that fans still have time to catch him live before he steps away. “We’re doing shows through the end of 2025, so I made the announcement now to give everyone notice.”
The Donegal native, known for his tireless touring schedule, warm rapport with audiences, and unwavering professionalism, has rarely slowed down since first bursting onto the music scene in the 1980s. This upcoming break marks a rare moment of rest for the entertainer, whose loyal fan base stretches across generations and continents.
While he hasn’t said exactly how long his break will last, one thing is clear: Daniel isn’t saying goodbye—just stepping back, for now.
