Miley Cyrus Steps Out in LA After Revealing Traumatic Emergency Health Scare
Singer Miley Cyrus, 32, was spotted in Los Angeles this week looking relaxed and stylish in her first public appearance since opening up about a frightening health emergency.
The Flowers hitmaker, who recently disclosed on The Zane Lowe Show that she suffered a ruptured ovarian cyst while on tour in 2023, cut a casual yet trendy figure during her Wednesday outing. Cyrus paired a black cropped top with matching Adidas tracksuit bottoms, adding a touch of luxury with black leather Chanel Mary Jane flats. Keeping accessories minimal but bold, she wore large yellow-tinted aviator sunglasses, layered silver chains, and had her blonde hair pulled back into a messy bun.
Her outing comes just days after she revealed the extent of her medical ordeal. Cyrus explained that the rupture occurred while she was preparing for her NBC New Year’s Eve special, co-hosted with her godmother Dolly Parton, and described the pain as “extremely excruciating.”
“I had a medical emergency — I had an ovarian cyst rupture. We didn’t know exactly what was going on,” she recalled. “It was pretty traumatic … and I did the show anyway.”
Despite being in severe pain, Cyrus still went ahead with the live performance, which featured Parton alongside special guests including Sia, David Byrne, and Paris Hilton. Reflecting on the night, she admitted that singing and moving on stage while battling the condition was “really, really hard.”
In the same interview, Cyrus also spoke candidly about her sobriety journey. The three-time Grammy winner, who has abstained from both marijuana and alcohol for the past decade, credited her lifestyle change with reshaping her life. “I need it. I live for it. It’s changed my entire life,” she said. “Sobriety is like my God.”
Cyrus continues to balance her personal health with her demanding career, and her collaboration with Dolly Parton on Wrecking Ball, Jolene, and I Will Always Love You during the NBC broadcast remains a standout moment in her recent performances.
Medical experts emphasize that while ovarian cysts are common and often harmless, they can sometimes rupture and cause severe pain or complications. The Mayo Clinic notes that regular pelvic exams are important for early detection, advising women to be attentive to unusual menstrual symptoms and consult healthcare providers if concerns arise.
As Cyrus looks ahead to new music and projects, her resilience in facing health challenges underscores not just her professionalism but her determination to keep moving forward — even in the most difficult of circumstances.
